## Ameren Missouri

**The last increase.** On April 23, 2025, the PSC approved an agreement raising Ameren Missouri's electric revenue by $355 million. Ameren had asked for $446 million. The $9 residential monthly customer charge was left unchanged.

**The new request.** Ameren has filed again, in case ER-2026-0291:

- **Amount:** a net increase of $343 million a year in electric base rates.
- **Bills:** about $13 a month for an average residential customer, according to KFVS.
- **Timing:** the intervention deadline was July 15, 2026. Ameren has said new rates would take effect in mid-2027.

The PSC also approved a large-load rate plan for Ameren in 2026, with protections intended to keep other customers from paying for the cost of serving very large users.

## Evergy Missouri Metro

Evergy Missouri Metro filed on February 6, 2026 (case ER-2026-0143), asking for about $137.9 million more a year in base rates. The PSC held public hearings in Kansas City on July 14, in Marshall on July 15, and online on July 16. The PSC's notice does not give a residential bill impact, and we found no decision.

## A Real October 1 Change: Columbia

City-owned utilities are not regulated by the PSC. Columbia raised electric usage fees 6% starting October 1, 2026, as covered in our [Columbia, Missouri article](/posts/columbia-missouri-electric-rates-october-2026/).

## What This Means for Homeowners With Solar

We did not verify current Missouri net metering terms for this article. Note that a fixed customer charge, such as Ameren's $9 a month, is not reduced by solar. Ask your utility how excess generation is credited before sizing a system.

Our [solar payback guide](/posts/solar-payback-period-without-federal-tax-credit/) shows how the retail rate and the export credit change the math.

## What to Check on Your Bill

1. The customer charge.
2. The energy charge per kWh.
3. The fuel adjustment line.

For help sorting the lines on your bill, see our guide to [reading your electric bill](/posts/how-to-read-your-electric-bill/).

## What Happens Next

- Evergy Missouri Metro: a PSC decision, date not confirmed.
- Ameren Missouri: hearings and a decision ahead of mid-2027.

## Limitations

The Ameren bill impact comes from a local TV report. We did not open the PSC case files, and we did not confirm the effective date of the 2025 Ameren increase or the percentage size of either pending request.
