The July 2026 Rate Plan

Entergy Mississippi’s rates are reviewed every year under a formula rate plan. For 2026, Entergy says the Mississippi Public Service Commission approved a plan that prevented a $4.87 monthly increase that would otherwise have started in July.

The company attributes that to revenue from data center customers. It says about $18 million of a $300 million reliability program is included in the plan.

The October Filing

In a news release dated August 27, 2026, Entergy said it had filed an additional reduction of about $0.41 a month that would take effect in October if approved. It relates to the ad valorem (property) tax adjustment. We found no report of the commission’s vote. In an earlier year, the same adjustment lowered a typical 1,000 kWh bill by 29 cents.

What to Keep in Mind

  • These figures come from Entergy’s own announcement.
  • “Avoided increase” is a comparison with what would have happened, not a cut to your bill.
  • Fuel costs are recovered separately and change through the year.
  • Entergy plans three new natural gas plants with more than 2,100 megawatts of capacity. Their costs will reach rates in later years.

What This Means for Homeowners With Solar

We did not verify Mississippi’s current net metering or export credit rules for this article, so we give no export rates here. Ask your utility for its current solar tariff, and check how exported energy is credited before sizing a system. Fixed monthly charges are not reduced by solar.

Our solar payback guide shows how the retail rate and the export credit change the math.

What to Check on Your Bill
