What Solar Examiner's articles can and cannot tell you.

Last updated: October 2, 2026.

For information only

Everything on Solar Examiner is general information. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or engineering advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Talk to a qualified professional before you buy solar equipment, sign a contract or claim a tax credit.

Rates and rules change

Electricity rates, tariffs, incentives and regulations change, often without notice. We date our articles and, where we have checked, show when the facts were last verified, but an article may be out of date by the time you read it. Check your utility’s current rate schedule or the official source before you make a decision.

National and state figures are not your numbers

Averages, forecasts and examples in our articles, such as a national average price, are not your rate or your bill. Your savings, payback period and costs depend on your utility, rate plan, usage, roof, equipment and local rules.
